Soda-firing is a process that includes spraying a mixture of water and soda ash into a kiln at peak temperature to achieve unique atmospheric effects.
This piece is handmade with love: wheel-thrown and designed using my homemade underglaze transfers. The transfers were created by burning my wildflower drawings into a screen, screen printing the flowers with underglaze onto rice paper, and then applying the transfers like temporary tattoos to bisqueware. Each ball of clay has its own shape, and I try to listen to the form as I’m throwing – so it is rare for any two to end up exactly the same, which means each piece ends up being unique and one of a kind.
These oil bottles feature landscapes, wildflowers, environments, and other elements that I have encountered while traveling.
All pieces are food, microwave, and dishwasher safe, although hand washing is recommended for any handmade ceramic piece.
I do the best I can to accurately photograph these pieces using natural lighting, but glaze colors may appear differently in various lighting environments.
